Background:
The only school in the village of Waringstown, 25 miles from Belfast; founded in 1933, the school was rebuilt on an elevated site in 1990. The school choir was Ulster Television's School Choir of the Year in 1998, and BBC Songs of Praise School Choir Of The Year 2004. In 2001 the school were Northern Ireland Girls' Hockey Champions and Runners Up in 2003. Extra-curricular activities include Scripture Union, drama, hockey, soccer, rugby, cycling proficiency, gardening, cricket and choir; in 2004, the choir sang in two BBC concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in London as UK Junior School Choir of the Year. In 2005, the football team finished third in Birmingham City Festival of Football at St Andrew's Stadium, Birmingham; first-time winners in 2006 of Northern Ireland Primary Cup; also winners of Mid Ulster League at football and cricket; rugby team won Mid Ulster tournament in March 2006. Best-kept primary school in Southern Education and Library Board in 1992, 1998, and 2000. Ethos: 'A caring, responsible school, with the children at the core of our activities.
